Flipkart to cease selling Moto G in India, G2 launch fixed for September 5

Flipkart has disclosed that it’s now offering the final stock of Motorola’s hugely popular Moto G smartphone in India. The reason for this is simple and obvious considering that the Levono-owned company has started issuing press invites for an event that it’ll be holding on September 5.

The said date is just a day after the event Motorola has planned in the US where it’ll reveal two new smartphones, the Moto X+1 flagship and Moto G2, as well as a couple of accessories. This suggests that at least the Moto G’s successor will make its way in to India early next month.

Motorola Moto G

Flipkart has priced the Moto G in India at Rs 11999 which is much cheaper than before. Also, it’s only offering the 16GB model as the 8GB version is nowhere to be seen. The e-retail website hasn’t revealed how many units are currently available and once the stock has cleared, you’ll have to turn to other sellers such as Snapdeal, Amazon and eBay where the prices are much higher.

The Moto G2 handset which could go official as the G+1, is the successor to the handset in question and it tags along various improvements. The device will deliver a tweaked design and offer a larger display with the same HD resolution. The processor and some other components will also be untouched, but there will be a batter rear camera on board.
