Microsoft Surface Laptop images, specs leaked ahead of launch

Microsoft Surface Laptop Front Leak

Microsoft’s hosting a big event in New York City in just a few hours where it’s going to launch products focused on the education sector. The company is widely expected to announce a new Surface-branded laptop and OS catering to the market segment.

A Twitter leakster named WalkingCat has now confirmed these predictions with a bunch of photos, a short 360-degree video, and specification details. Simply called the Surface Laptop, the device is set up to be a Chromebook Pixel rival running on the all-new Windows 10 S software.

Windows 10 S is rumored to be Microsoft’s answer to Chrome OS. The former is supposed to be more secure than the regular Windows 10 since it will only allow apps from the Windows Store to be downloaded. The ‘S’ may stand for school, clearly denoting it for educational enterprises.

As for the Surface Laptop, it could be outfitted with a 13.5-inch PixelSense display and alcantara-covered keyboard. The material is the same one found on the premium Surface Pro 4. WalkingCat claims the panel is an indication that it’ll feature full touch and inking support.

Microsoft Surface Laptop Back Leak

In terms of connectivity, the Surface Laptop could boast of a mini DisplayPort, Surface power connector, and USB port. There aren’t any Type-C ports in sight. The offering might weigh in at 2.76 pounds and measure 14.47mm at the back and 9.9mm at the front.

It seems the Surface Laptop won’t be the latest addition to the top-of-the-line Surface Book series, spinning off into its own offshoot. Microsoft is supposedly going to sell the notebook in cobalt blue, burgundy, graphite gold, and platinum colors.
