Acer Aspire S7 and S3 join the Computex parade

At the Computex 2013, Acer has announced a new Ultrabook duo, the Aspire S7 and S3 in Europe that brings in the latest processors Intel has to offer and enhanced battery life with reasonable price tags. Both laptops run on Windows 8 and are fitted with touch-enabled display for quick navigation through the UI.

The Acer Aspire S7 is the latest flagship and a refresh to last year’s model which was announced back in October. The new version is said to possess an enhanced EL backlit keyboard for comfortable typing and 2nd generation TwinAir cooling that renders over 20% lesser fan noise. The laptop comes in different configurations. The base model is deployed with a 10-point full HD IPS touchscreen and entertainment buffs seeking the latest there is can opt for a WQHD 13.3-inch display that offers IPS technology, 10-point touch input and a 2560 x 1440p resolution.

Additionally, both panels are coated with Gorilla Glass 2 for enhanced durability. There are dual-array microphones onboard that are clubbed together with the Purified.Voice technology for rich speech input and reduced noise. Being a next generation laptop, the Haswell-based Core i series will power it up. If these aren’t enough, buyers will have a RAID 0 SSD for quick boot up times and app performance. The device is 12.9mm thin and weighs a starting 1.3kg. Customers will be presented with up to 7 hours of battery life which is 33% more compared to that of its predecessor.

S3 Ultrabook

Coming to the S3 Ultrabook, this 13.3-inch rig takes on a similar appearance as the aforementioned notebook. Under the lid, there’s a 1080p full HD IPS touchscreen with a 170-degree wide viewing angle. On the lower half, the keyboard automatically adjusts its brightness based on the ambiance, owing to the inclusion of light-sensing technology. The external form factor is crafted from aluminum and it features a mirror-polish finish.

The laptop weighs 1.65kg and measures 17.8mm thick. Getting things up and running are the Core series processors that are clubbed together with GeForce GT 735M graphics. Other attributes thrown in include WiDi and Purified.Voice technologies, TwinAir cooling as well as a 7.2mm 1TB hard disk.

The Acer Aspire S7 and S3 Ultrabooks are expected to go on sale sometime this month for starting price tags of €1,450 and €999, respectively.
