Notebook lovers in India seem to be in for a treat with MSI’s latest offerings. The manufacturer recently let out a slew of 14 new models spanning across 5 series. Laptops offered include high-performance G-series gaming notebooks, aesthetically fabricated Classic series, the visual-treat E-series entertainment notebooks, lightweight and fashionable X-Slim series and the super-thin and stylish U-series Wind netbooks.
The notebooks allow play of power-hungry games, classy digital entertainment and advanced ready-on-the-go perfromance. These new devices are intended to suit the computing needs of varied users. Here we take a look at models in three series namely the G-series, the Classic series and the E-series.

Starting off with the super-powerful G-series, it brings to the forefront the GT640 and GT740 notebooks. Boasting of the Intel Calpella flat-screen 15.4-inch and 17-inch monitors, these models are armed with the latest Intel C i7 Quad-Core processors and combine the Nvidia GeForce GTS 250M 3D discrete graphics to offer unprecedented gaming.
Equipped with an enhanced multimedia entertainment interface, the notebooks seem to flaunt their own style. Frequently used WASD keys are highlighted in easy-to-locate red color while a super thin brushed aluminum alloy case further adds to the chic factor. Adorning lava red trim, polished metal 3D speakers and a high-tech luminescent, touch activated interface board, the two notebooks are based on the Microsoft Windows 7 platform.
The E-series entertainment notebook line reveals the EX465 notebook. Sporting a 15” LED backlit display and Intel Core Duo processor, the notebook is super-compact and weighs just about 2kg including the high-capacity 6-cell battery. Boasting of clean, minimalist lines, users can look forward to real visual effects enabled by a Radeon HD4330 discrete 3D graphics card.
With 16:9 high-definition cinema display, users are provided with a significantly large screen real-estate as against standard 16:10 aspect screens. The company’s unique EDS ergonomic keyboard with curves to fit the finger tips and a 51% larger size to lower the burden on fingers and wrists adds to the comfort factor. MSI’s signature Eco Engine technology allows LED backlighting for the notebook’s LCD screen enabling it to save energy.
The all-new Classic series notebook range includes the CR420, CX420 and CR620 models. Proffering classic elegance, these new devices adopt Intel’s latest-generation Core i5 CPU and are tailored with the chic Color Print Film exterior coating. Boast performance enhancement by 20% over the previous generation and an operating speed enhancement of up to 30%, the notebook is also elegantly styled. It includes Chrome treatment along with the light-touch tactile Chiclet keyboard, distinct brushed metal touchpad buttons and LED lights.
Claiming to be much thinner and lighter than earlier models, the Intel Calpella platform further allows advanced image reproduction. With an image processing capability of up to 1080p high-definition, it also delivers an enhanced audio and video experience. Offering high-speed wireless connectivity, its exterior design adorns high-grade styling with a 45-degree angled fabrication, slimmer profile and clean, minimalist lines.
The G-Series, the EX 465 and the Classic Series notebooks from MSI are priced at Rs 88,000, Rs. 38,999 and Rs. 38,000 and upwards, depending on configuration.
