LaCie wants to support the all-new MacBook with its first USB-C external drive

LaCie and Porsche Design have together announced the launch of a new USB-C external hard drive which ships with a USB-C port, and is particularly targeted towards the new extremely thin and light MacBook from Apple. Apart from offering high speed content transfers and modern looks, this product delivers in the durability department as well.

The new USB–C standard allows users to connect the cables from either of the two sides, since both of them are identical. This isn’t the case with current-gen USB standards which only connect via one side, much to the frustration of those who are in a hurry.

Apart from a cable supporting USB-C connectivity, it will also come bundled with a cord that will grant compatibility with Type-A USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 standards.
