Konami has sued Harmonix, Rock Band developer over the infringement of the patents. According to Bloomberg, Harmonix violated Konami’s two patents which were filed in 2002 and 2003.
Bloomberg further says that these violated patents are related to musical instruments, a music-game system and a “musical-rhythm matching game”. Rock Band is a game that allows gamers to play music through toy peripherals.
Konami is planning to launch rock band game named Rock Revolution later this year, which is played through specialized controllers.
Apparently Konami is seeking for cash compensation, in addition to an order that would block Viacom and Harmonix from using the inventions.
