The Kobian Mercury mTab Lite is the latest member in this tablet range to arrive in India with an affordable price in tow. Like a horde of other slates currently available in the budget-friendly segment, Kobian Mercury’s gadget supports voice calling, thereby eliminating the need to carry a smartphone.
Budget-friendly price aside, prospective users will be a tad bit disappointed to know that the Kobian Mercury mTab Lite is based on Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0, while most of its rivals are rocking the Jelly Bean OS. And we are not expecting the company to roll out OTA update for the latest version anytime soon. The slate comes encased in a compact form factor measuring 182 x 123 x 12 millimeters and weighing merely 320 grams.
The Kobian Mercury mTab Lite tablet’s front panel is dominated by a 7-inch TFT capacitive 5-point touchscreen with an aspect ratio of 16:9. It can be expected to render visuals in a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The gadget can be employed for the purpose of capturing images as well as for making video calls over Wi-Fi as a 0.3MP camera resides on the rear panel and a similar snapper has been placed on the front.
Apart from a SIM card slot, it has a micro USB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm audio jack for connecting peripherals and audio gadgets. A DC jack has been embedded for tethering it to a charger. Potential buyers will also find a TF card slot perched on the Kobian Mercury mTab Lite slab’s chassis for expanding its 4GB onboard memory by up to 32GB using a microSD card.
Complete with Flash 11.1, the slate featuring 512MB of RAM is integrated with a Vimicro Cortex A8 processor running at a speed of 1GHz for ensuring multitasking. As for the power life of the slab, it should go strong for at least a day with the help of a built-in 2700mAh battery.
The Mercury mTab Lite is now up for grabs for a price of Rs 6000 and is backed by a one-year warranty.
