Despite Samsung denying the existence of the Galaxy S5 Prime, rumors and leaks still continue to surface suggesting that there is a beefier version of the flagship in the works. Adding fuel to the fire is an image which is allegedly of the device in question that has made it online.
Embedded below, the leaked picture shows a device that looks identical to the Galaxy S5, but without the dotted rear panel. Instead, there’s a brushed-metal design and we’re hoping it’s aluminum that we see. PhoneArena has spotted the purported Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime image on Reddit where the poster claims to have received it from an anonymous tipster. Many have raised the possibility that the picture is actually a hoax.
It could be the current flagship with a replacement rear panel as there are a few already available through retailers. Also, Samsung has already designed phones with a metal-looking polycarbonate form factor, like the Galaxy Beam 2. Be it real or fake, the brushed metal design does make the device look premium and rugged. This could very well be a well thought-out prank. The Galaxy S5 Prime is said to come with better specs compared to the ones found on the current flagship. Thanks to a previous leak, we know what features the device is likely to carry.
Here are the leaked specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime SM-G906S:
– 5.2-inch QHD 1440 x 2560p AMOLED display
– 3GB RAM
– Quad core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 SOC
– Adreno 420 graphics
– Android 4.4 KitKat
– Heart rate and fingerprint sensors
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is rumored to go official sometime next month to compete against the LG G3.
