The portfolio of rugged Android devices has a new member in the form of the JCB Toughphone Pro-Smart, which is to debut through Clove along with the JCB Sitemaster 2. Both the devices are in stock and available for purchase, reveals the official Clove blog.
The Pro-Smart is the first JCB device to run the Google Android mobile OS. This smartphone binges on the Gingerbread platform and employs an 800MHz processor under the hood. Its front panel is dominated by a 3.2-inch multi-touch screen and it lets users take advantage of communication options such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi amongst others. Additionally, the IP67 rated handset is rugged enough to withstand spills and scratches. The integrated 2000mAh battery can be expected to bestow a power life that lasts up to 550 minutes in the GSM mode.
Its counterpart, the Sitemaster 2, adheres to military specification guidelines for IP54 certification in order to offer resistance to dust, water and accidental drops from almost 2 meters. It is also said to have been tested for enduring about 1 ton of pressure. Backed by a two-year warranty, this candy bar phone sports a 2-inch TFT screen along with an alphanumeric keypad. Measuring 115 x 53 x 23 millimeters, it draws power from a 1300mAh polymer battery and provides talk time of up to 270 minutes. Its standby time is close 450 hours. The other tech specs of this sturdy piece of hardware are inclusive of Bluetooth, FM radio, torch, laser pointer and more.
The JCB Toughphone Pro-smart and Sitemaster 2 price and availability details have been revealed already. The former is out for £310, while the latter can now be picked up for £114, via the official Clove website.
