Jataayu Software acquired by Bharti Telesoft

Bharti Telesoft and Jataayu Software logos Bharti Telesoft, a provider of integrated VAS solutions for mobile operators has acquired Jataayu Software, a leading WAP and mobile handset services provider.

Manoranjan Mohapatra, CEO, Bharti Telesoft, stated, “We foresee immense potential in the union of Bharti Telesoft’s and Jataayu’s offerings. The WAP, MMS and IMPS capabilities of Jataayu fit well with Bharti Telesoft’s messaging portfolio and will position us more favorably in the market by enhancing our offerings for the customer.” Adding, “The handset applications business takes us into a new, rapidly developing, and very important area, which is set to change dramatically in the near future. As Jataayu is an established player in this space we can consolidate our position and build attractive propositions for this sector. Overall, our customers are going to benefit from a wider portfolio of offerings and advanced R&D strength.”

Jataayu’s wholly owned subsidiary in the US along with the offices in the UK, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea will be added to Bharti Telesoft’s present operations across Africa, the Middle East and AsiaPac regions. With this Bharti Telesoft will now have a presence in 14 countries across the globe.

Jataayu’s existing management team will continue to work within the combined company and contribute to its success, and Mahesh Jain, Jataayu’s Managing Director, will continue in an advisory role for 2008 as well. Bharti Telesoft’s Board of Directors will remain as they were.

Mahesh Kumar Jain, Managing Director, Jataayu Software mentioned, “Jataayu has created strong technology focused products, acquired a wide customer base and has established a strong identity in the mobile VAS space over the last seven years. We believe these strengths will help Bharti Telesoft, already a leading player, become a formidable force in this rapidly growing space. This larger combined organization will also expose the people of Jataayu to greater opportunities that come with rapid growth and innovation.”

While Bharti Telesoft has a strong presence in India, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and South Asia Jataayu has a strong presence in Latin America, the US and the wider APAC region,” said Sanjiv Mital, Vice-Chairman, Bharti Telesoft.

With the acquisition of Jataayu Software, Bharti Telesoft essentially intends to broaden its horizon further. Nothing is known about the financial terms of the deal.
