The clock is ticking on Apple’s Special Event, but the leaks keep on coming. Photos of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone AKA iPhone Xr’s SIM card tray have just emerged, revealing Apple’s color choices in the process.
Frequent tipster Benjamin Geskin posted the above photo on Twitter. He claims it’s a single SIM tray which is double-sided, meaning users can place one card on each side. We’ve been hearing rumors about dual-SIM support for a while now, but no one knew how exactly Apple would implement it.

Android smartphones typically use a longer tray to fit in two SIMs. It seems like Apple doesn’t want to do that, but this may be a bit inconvenient for folks when they’re putting in or pulling out the slot. Still, customers might be willing to put up with this as long as they’re getting dual-SIM support.
As for the colors, there are a couple of new faces here mixed in with the old guard. The iPhone Xr might be sold in red, blue, brown, silver, and space gray. The silver, space gray, and red are no surprise, but the blue and brown certainly are. Some think the brown shade is actually more copper in terms of looks.

Apple has traditionally released its red iPhones later in the year, but it looks like the iPhone Xr is jumping the gun. The iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max could still shift to a (PRODUCT) RED option in the future. The pair is expected to hit shelves in silver, gold, and space gray for now.
One aspect which the leak doesn’t confirm is where this special double-sided SIM tray will be available. Most reports say it’s going to be a China-exclusive. Other markets may have to make do with virtual Apple SIMs.
