Two of Apple’s 2018 iPhones have shown their faces in the form of dummy units. The images of the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone X Plus and 6.1-inch LCD iPhone AKA iPhone 9 mostly fall in line with leaks in the past, so they’re probably fairly accurate.
The photos were brought to light by frequent tipster Benjamin Geskin on Twitter. Dummy models usually pop up around this time as designs get finalized and the production process in China begins. Both the iPhone X Plus and iPhone 9 can be seen sporting the same notch design, accompanied by a slim bezel all around.
There isn’t much of a difference between the borders, though some might say the iPhone 9 has the thicker bezel. Things start looking a lot more different at the back. The iPhone X Plus has a vertically-arranged dual camera setup, while the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone has a single camera and an LED flash module below it.
iPhone X Plus, iPhone 9 Comparison
There were rumors that the iPhone X Plus was going to have 3 cameras at the rear. It looks like this isn’t happening in 2018, but 2019 may change things. The iPhone 9’s sole snapper is notably bigger than the iPhone 8’s, so perhaps Apple has some enhancements in store to make up for the lack of a second lens.
What’s not pictured is the 5.8-inch iPhone X (2018). The handset is expected to look just like its predecessor. Furthermore, it’s said to resemble the iPhone X Plus. Both variants are probably going to be available in Space Gray, Silver, and a new Gold color option.
Apple may go even more extreme with the iPhone 9. Speculation so far has suggested that red, blue, white, orange, gray, yellow, pink, black, taupe, and gold are all in the running. We’ll have to wait till September to find out which shades the company has finalized.
