We recently came across case renders of Apple’s budget iPhone 9 AKA 6.1-inch LCD iPhone and it’s now time for Apple’s premium iPhone X Plus to shine inside a case. The leak has arrived via GizmoChina and a case maker named Sanfeng who is calling the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone the “iPhone 9 Plus.”
There’s a very small chance Apple will actually call it that, but like all rumors, we can’t say this for sure. The iPhone X Plus is a bigger sequel to the original 5.8-inch iPhone X and we can’t see why the company would switch around its naming scheme and confuse its customers in the process.
Perhaps Apple will come up with a new naming scheme this year to sort out its different lineups. Getting back to the renders, the iPhone sitting inside the purple case looks pretty much like a super-sized version of the iPhone X. It features the same notch and barely-there bezel design.
iPhone X Plus Speculation
The back of the so-called iPhone X Plus is interesting. Some have claimed that Apple is going to incorporate 3 cameras at the back, while others say this won’t happen until 2019. There are only 2 cameras in the image above, so it seems like the latter group might be right after all.
The iPhone X Plus is apparently going to measure 157.5 x 77.4 x 7.7mm, a bit thicker than the 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus which is sized at 158.4 x 78.1 x 7.5mm only. Still, the duo is probably close enough for people who like Apple’s Plus models to give the new one a try.
Apple might be throwing in some extra incentives with the iPhone X Plus this year namely in the SIM department. Rumor has it that the phone will support 2 SIMs at the same time. China may get an actual dual-SIM card slot, while the rest of the world will have to deal with a virtual and physical SIM combo.
