iPhone SE price slashed to just Rs 17999

iPhone SE

The 32GB iPhone SE has dropped to a new low in India, retailing at just Rs 17999 on Amazon. The diminutive handset officially retails for Rs 26000, so this marks a significant Rs 8001 fall.

To be clear, Apple itself hasn’t changed the price from Rs 26000 to Rs 17999. Moreover, Amazon India isn’t the brand’s online partner; Flipkart is. The rival e-commerce site is selling the 32GB iPhone SE at Rs 21000, a Rs 5001 difference.

The 128GB version of the iPhone SE is selling at Rs 28490 on both Amazon and Flipkart, down by Rs 6510 from Rs 35000. The phone is notably the only member of Apple’s portfolio which didn’t get its rate raised after the Indian government hiked the import tax from 10% to 15%.

That’s because the iPhone SE is assembled in India, the only iPhone to do so. Rumor has it that Apple is preparing to manufacture a refresh of the device at the same Wistron plant in Bengaluru, making India one of the first countries to get its hands on the low-cost handset.
