The iPhone 6 isn’t out until September, but we won’t mind a component by component-style leak of it as we lead up to the said month. Today it’s the turn of the special Sapphire display cover which will make its screen an extremely durable one.
Videos of the hardware have started popping up on the Internet and one such clip comes from Marques Brownlee (aka MKBHD) which can be spotted in the space below. The prominent YouTuber has gone on to emphasize in the video that the iPhone 6 Sapphire display cover which he is holding isn’t a mock-up of any kind.
Brownlee goes on to further say that it is a ‘straight-off-the-assembly-line iPhone 6 part from Apple.’ This display cover is of the 4.7-inch version of the smartphone that’s to debut ahead of the phablet variant which is apparently planned for next year.
Sapphire is described as a high-quality material which is paper-thin in thickness. Moreover, it offers almost no opacity which means a direct view of the display with no obscureness will be offered by this screen. Apple has previously used Sapphire on the camera lens and the home buttons of its previous devices.
As can be seen in the video, the material is put through a series of extreme durability tests which do not seem to affect it one bit. If it is indeed a component of the upcoming iPhone 6 we can expect the device to grab a rugged nature which is a staple for most flagship devices these days.
Leaks regarding the iPhone 6 continue to seep out in a timely manner, and you can expect the same to happen in the future as well. So stay tuned for more.
