iPhone 5 price in India starts at Rs. 45,500, release date set for November 2

The release date of the iPhone 5 and its price in India have officially gone live and potential users interested in laying hands on this piece of hardware will have to shell out at least Rs. 45,500. The thinnest and lightest iPhone yet, will start shipping in the country from November 2, that’s next Friday.

Powered by the A6 chip, the latest generation Apple smartphone claims to deliver relatively fast performance along with a long battery life. A 4-inch multi-touch Retina display and a webcam for making FaceTime calls dominate the front panel, while an 8MP iSight camera with a durable sapphire crystal lens cover has been embedded on the flip side. This primary snapper has been blessed with multiple features such as a stabilizer, face detection for up to 10 faces and the ability to click still shots while recording videos.

Constructed using anodized aluminum and glass, the sleek device measures 7.6mm in thickness and extends support to LTE as well as DC-HSDPA networks. Needless to say, it comes with dual-band Wi-Fi for wireless internet access if there’s an available hotspot. The Apple iPhone 5 runs on the iOS 6 platform and sports the Lightning connector to facilitate connections with multiple accessories. It utilizes the beam-forming microphone system with noise cancelling technology and is accompanied by the Apple EarPods.

The 16GB, 32GB and 64GB iPhone 5 will be distributed via Redington in India and be available through various outlets from November 2 for price labels of Rs. 45,500, Rs. 52,500 and Rs. 59,500, respectively.
