Apple’s been rolling out beta builds for iOS 12 at a fairly regular pace. The second public beta has arrived a week and a half after the first one and just a few days after the latest developer build came out.
Anyone who’s signed up to be a part of Apple’s free Beta Software Program should see the iOS 12 public beta 2 in their devices. The update weighs in at 560.9MB, so it would be best to download it over Wi-Fi. It’s almost identical to the iOS 12 developer beta 3.
iOS 12 Public Beta 2 Fixes
This means that the iOS 12 public beta 2 includes fixes for GPS and CarPlay disconnection bugs which were annoying users in the earlier beta software versions. There haven’t been too many complaints about the public beta builds so far. As stable as things may seem though, beta programs are always volatile and could mess up iPhones.
That’s why it’s a good idea to experiment with a device which is not an individual’s daily driver. Other than the bug fixes, people staying in the San Francisco Bay Area can see the new-and-improved Maps app first-hand. Apple spoke extensively about its plans to better the app recently, with an eye on expanding the changes to the rest of the US in the coming months.

The iOS 12 public beta 2 also includes a redesigned Voice Memos UI on the iPad, a new Low Power Mode indicator for battery statistics, and Notification Center tweaks. The Messages app has some fresh stickers for Activities, so users can chat with each other about workouts.
Apple has also started beaming out the second public beta for tvOS 12. Both tvOS 12 and iOS 12 are due to hit the big time in September alongside a host of new iPhones and the Apple Watch 4.
