Sony PS4 priced, cheaper than Xbox One

Sony PS4

The Sony PS4 seems all set to take on the recently-launched Xbox One as the former has been pegged at a retail value which is $100 less than the latter. Apart from unveiling the latest-generation console, Sony showcased a portfolio of upcoming first and third-party content for its series of gaming devices at the ongoing E3 Media & Business Summit.

The body showing off a sleek and modern design, definitely does not forget to pack in a punch. A single-chip custom processor rests under the hood along with a low-power x86-64 AMD Jaguar CPU with 8 cores. And in order to ensure enhanced graphics for demanding titles, the Sony PS4 employs a 1.84TFLOPS AMD Radeon GPU as well. Add to it, 8GB of GDDR5 RAM and the device is all set for some hardcore gaming.

An HDD is integrated into the system as well, and so is an optical read-only drive which is compatible with Blu-ray discs and DVDs. The Sony PS4 has an Ethernet port and its built-in Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n comes in handy for connecting it to hotspots for internet access. It features Bluetooth 2.1 and is even embedded with a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI connector, an analog AV output and an optical digital output.

And what’s more, the Sony PlayStation 4 has the ability to learn the likes and dislikes of players for instant access to preferred pre-loaded content. Information about various titles, TV shows and movies can be accessed without hassles and the device also allows users to view content shared by their friends, their gameplay and more. It can even be synced with the PlayStation Vita, so compatible titles can be played on the handheld gadget on the run.

The next-generation console will be packaged along with the DualShock 4 which measures 162mm x 52mm x 98mm and tips the scales at 210 grams. Complete with all the common and necessary keys, this controller is fitted with a 2-point capacitive touchpad with click mechanism and draws power from a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
