Successors to the Studybook slates, the Intel Education 7-inch and 10-inch tablets that are especially meant to assist students and teachers have been introduced by the chipmaker. Both the Intel devices make the most of the Atom processors and operate with the help of the Android OS.
The Intel Education 10-inch tablet hides a Z2460 CPU running at a speed of 1.6GHz along with 1GB of system memory. Its total internal hoarding space amounts to 16GB and the Ice Cream Sandwich-based device offers a multi-touch real estate of 10.1 inches. This capacitive TFT LCD display is optimized for the accompanying stylus and manages to render clear visuals in 1280 x 800p resolution. Loaded with McAfee Mobile Security and Intel Education Theft Deterrent, the Wi-Fi-enabled gadget sports a 0.3MP webcam, a 2MP camera, a microphone, a speaker, an audio jack, and a microUSB 2.0 port. It comes packed in a rugged exterior with dimensions of 272 x 174 x 13.2 millimeters, that can endure drops from a height of about 50 centimeters and withstand spills or splashes as well. The slate tips the scales at 689 grams.
As for the Intel Education 7-inch slab, it binges on the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 OS and gains steam from a 1.2GHz Z2420 processor which has 1GB LPDDR2 RAM for company. There’s 8GB of internal storage and its multi-touch screen with an aspect ratio of 16:9 has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. All of these features are packed into a water-resistant chassis measuring 200 x 122 x 9.95 millimeters.
The compact Intel Education tablet employs a 0.3MP webcam as well as a 2MP rear facing camera. It boasts of Wi-Fi and optional Bluetooth and is embedded with a microSD card slot, a USB 2.0 port and an audio jack. And what’s more, the device is integrated with a 4200mAh battery that can deliver usage time of about 7.8 hours on a single charge.
