Intel has delayed its upcoming chip Montevina, also known as Centrino 2. The launch of the Montevina was due for release in June 2008.
According to Intel, it has delayed the launch of Centrino 2 in order to fix few issues related to the chipset and the antenna used with the wireless chipset.
The upcoming Centrino 2 platform features Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme mobile processors along with an updated chip set with integrated graphics. Also it includes support for Wi-Fi, with WiMax. Moreover, the Montevina chipset promises upgraded (GMA X4500) integrated graphics.
According to TG Daily, the Centrino 2 is expected to launch in mid-July. While the new Core and Extreme CPUs, with some chipsets are expected to release by August 2008.
Intel’s notebook Montevina platform was re-christened as Centrino 2, in order to avoid creating confusion for the customers.
