Smart Reply happens to be the name of a cool new feature that’s about to hit the Inbox by Gmail application. This trait enables the app to automatically generate replies to emails by analyzing the content in them. All you need to do is make two taps and forget the troubles of having to type out the whole message.
Inbox by Gmail has been targeted towards people who are always on the go. It’s hence a platform that gives mobile users priority over PC users. Checking too many emails a day and replying to them is quite a task for these people, and this is what has convinced the makers of the application to come up with Smart Reply.
As you can see in the image down below, Inbox examines the content from the email you have received and auto-suggests up to three possible replies. You can choose the one that suits you the best and hit the Send button to quickly get it across to the sender. And just in case you wish to add to the auto-generated reply, you can do that as well.
This Gmail product performs its new abilities by using machine learning. It recognizes that an email requires a reply, and uses its artificial intelligence to guess the natural language responses for it. The Google Research Blog has put up a detailed summary of how it works, even explaining how the developers got machine learning to work on a data set which they’d never be able to see.
Smart Reply will start hitting Inbox by Gmail later this week through updates that will be delivered via the Google Play store and the Apple App Store.
