Ice silver PS Vita gets a release date for Asia, reaching Hong Kong first

Ice Silver PlayStation Vita

The ice silver PS Vita release date has been officially announced by Sony and based on the information provided, the handheld console is expected to be available in select locations across Asia. The model being launched in the said color option will be Wi-Fi-only and it’s speculated to go up for grabs in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

Apart from being drenched in the ice silver shade, the PlayStation Vita Wi-Fi model will carry the same specifications as its black and white siblings. Doing the heavy lifting here is a quad core ARM Cortex A9 processor clubbed together with a PowerVR SGX543MP4+. Visuals are delivered through an OLED touchscreen that spans 5 inches wide and proffers a resolution of 960 x 544 pixels as well as a 16:9 aspect ratio. Unlike its predecessor, the battery employed here isn’t removable. And where activity time is concerned, users can expect a minimum 3 hours of gaming, up to 5 hours of video playback or 10 hours of music listening on standby.

The gaming unit in question isn’t the only member of the famed console family to get a makeover. Last month, the Japanese multinational announced that the PS3 would arrive drenched in white in the form of a bundle which tags along 500GB of storage, the slim version of the console, a white controller and a 1-year subscription of Plus. Later that month, the company also revealed the garnet red PS3 which has gone live as a limited edition God of War: Ascension Legacy bundle.

The release for the ice silver PS Vita in Hong Kong is slated for February 28. Potential buyers in Singapore will be able to purchase the handheld console from March 4, while interested customers in Malaysia will have to wait until the 6th of next month to lay hands on the device. Where price is concerned, it will be available for HK$2,280, SG$399 and MYR1,099, respectively.
