Huawei Honor 6 to get Android 5.0 Lollipop update in early 2015

Huawei’s Honor 6 smartphone has earned itself quite some popularity in the market as it offers flagship-class features at a decent price. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and you’re probably wondering whether it will ever get updated to Lollipop.

Well, we’ve got just the answer you’re searching for – The Huawei Honor 6 will indeed get Android 5.0 and it’s slated to arrive next year. The update will be released in Q1 of 2015 and it will not only introduce the latest enhancements from Google, but also a new version of the Emotion UI.

Now, while this information doesn’t offer any concrete release date for the new firmware, GizChina notes that it comes straight from mouth of Huawei. Other devices such as the Honor Holly, Ascend Mate 7, Ascend G7 and Ascend P7 should also get treated to Lollipop, but there’s no confirmation on the same as yet.

In other news, the company is reportedly working on a new flagship, the Ascend P8, which will feature a 2.5D curved glass display and the latest HiSilicon Kirin 930 SoC. An upgraded version of the handset in question, called the Honor 6X, is also expected to go official soon and it has been confirmed to carry dual 8MP rear cameras and some pretty beefy hardware.
