Huawei Honor 5X

The Huawei Honor 5X has hit availability in India, with the smartphone now vending via Amazon and Flipkart. The phone was launched in the country alongside the Honor Holly 2 Plus last month. The latter handset is slated to come out on February 15.

The dual-SIM Huawei Honor 5X made its debut in China back in October last year. The manufacturer has priced it at Rs 12999 in India and fitted it with an all-metal body carved out of an aluminum alloy. A 360-degree fingerprint scanner adorns its back panel. The unit apparently allows users to unlock the device within 0.5 seconds.

It’s also been equipped with adaptive technology to learn more about a person’s fingerprint as they use it, preventing failed print recognition due to wet hands. Consumers of the Honor 5X can further use the scanner to call a contact or launch an app from the lockscreen itself. Long-pressing the sensor lets them answer a call and cancel alarms.

A neat summary of the main specs of the Huawei Honor 5X:

– OS: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based EMUI 3.1
– Display: 5.5-inch IPS, 1080 x 1920 pixels

Huawei has blessed the device’s 3000mAh battery with SmartPower 3.0 to reduce power consumption by 30%. The unit can apparently last for 1 day with heavy use or 1.46 days with moderate use. A 13MP camera takes care of images and is accompanied by an aperture of f/2.0, a 28mm wide-angle lens and dual-LED flash.
