Huawei Ascend G510 and Y300 officially launched in India

Ascend G510

Huawei has officially launched the Ascend G510 and Y300 in India, after the handsets’ prices had been unofficially revealed via online retail in the country about 10 days ago. Both will have fairly large screens and the company’s new Emotion UI to go along with Android Jelly Bean (version 4.1).

The G510 has just been launched in the UK on Vodafone, and it should be noted that the two versions look slightly different. The phone has a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS display. This means images and video shoot out at a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, an elongation of about 54 vertical pixels when compared to WVGA. Thickness is kept just under 10 millimeters for a slim look and feel.

Coming to its more technical aspects, the handset has a 1.2GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU for multi-tasking. Sadly, it can only muster 512MB of RAM and a 4GB ROM for storage needs, although the latter can be expanded further up to 32GB by inserting a microSD card in the corresponding slot.

A 5MP primary snapper brings along LED flash as well as auto focus capabilities, while there is a 0.3MP webcam on the front. The 1,750mAh Li-polymer battery rounds up the specs, while DTS surround sound makes for a better experience when watching movies on the device. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth and DLNA.

The Y300 on the other hand, has a 4-inch WVGA IPS 5-point touch screen with a 178-degree viewing angle. The phone is intended to provide entry-level handset users with more power and features than most others in the segment. It houses a 1GHz dual core Qualcomm processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory with up to 32GB of expansion.

There is a 5MP lens with AF on the back panel and a 0.3MP webcam on the front for imaging needs, plus a 1,730mAh power unit. It might be the smaller of the two, but it includes a nice camera feature allowing users to take 360-degree panorama shots.
