Rumors are rife that just like last year, there will be two Nexus smartphones released this year as well, with their chosen manufacturer being HTC. These are believed to be internally codenamed Sailfish and Marlin, and the latter among the two has just had its specifications leaked.
This model will go for a 5.5-inch AMOLED panel sporting Quad HD resolution. A quad core Qualcomm processor is said to be inside it, but whether it will be the Snapdragon 820 or one of its rumored successors is unknown. 4GB worth of RAM will apparently be onboard this HTC Nexus device.
The storage options will strangely not include a 64GB model, as they’ll only be going for 32GB and 128GB variants. We wonder how the pricing structure will change based on this. Android Police, the source of this leak, is saying that a 12MP camera will be present on its rear surface, while an 8MP snapper will make its way onto its front.
A 3450mAh battery will moreover be present inside it. This HTC handset will apparently gain a USB Type-C port, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and bottom firing speakers like the ones on iPhones.
The smaller among the two handsets, codenamed Sailfish, will feature the same processor-RAM setup. Its display will be a 5-inch 1080p AMOLED panel, whereas its battery will be of 2770mAh capacity. All other specifications will more or less be the same apparently.
It seems like Google will be going for an Apple-like approach this year with its Nexus phones, wherein only the sizes and batteries of the devices are different and all other stuff is the same. Let’s wait and see if that actually turns out to be true.
