So far, we’ve only been seeing the Verizon version of the HTC One W8 for Windows Phone which suggested that it could be restricted to the carrier. Well, the latest leak highlights that the exclusivity might only be limited to the US as the handset was recently spotted in Europe.
Dutch retailer Telfort has posted an image of the device on its homepage as a small thumbnail to advertise its mobile subscription service. The picture shows the HTC One W8 for Windows Phone between a Samsung Galaxy handset and the iPhone 5S. This clearly denotes that the Taiwanese OEM will bring its high-end WP8.1 release to international markets as well.
WPCentral notes that the device was even spotted at the GSM Global Certification Forum carrying European LTE bands. The One W8 is expected to make its debut on August 19 in the US and reach Verizon on the 21st. There’s no word on when the device will go official for international markets, but we anticipate hearing about these details at the press event.
The handset will basically be a rebranded version of the One M8, hence retaining most of the flagship’s features. This will also be the first time that the UltraPixel camera and the BoomSound speakers will be available on a WP8.1 device. Additionally, HTC will even offer the Dot View smart case and support for the accessory has already been introduced with GDR1 update for the OS.
