HTC One M9 gets Android 5.1 update in Europe, Middle East, Africa

Owners of the HTC One M9 patiently awaiting the update to Android 5.1 Lollipop have a reason to cheer, with the smartphone set to receive the software upgrade soon. It can be downloaded by users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) starting from August 4.

The information was revealed in a tweet by Graham Wheeler, the Product and Service Director of EMEA at the company. The update to Android 5.1 Lollipop for the HTC One M9 in those countries has been much delayed, given that it’s already been released in the USA through Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T.

We don’t know what kind of enhancements will come with the Android upgrade, but the developer edition of the One M9 got several fixes such as improved battery life, better data connectivity, call drop reduction, optimized camera functions and more efficient temperature management of the device.

The HTC handset was released in March this year with Android 5.0 Lollipop. The flagship phone was on the receiving end of a lot of criticism for its overheating glitch, bad battery life and buggy camera. The Taiwanese brand subsequently tried to make amends with an OTA update that promised to amend the uncovered faults.
