HTC One M8 Dual SIM officially launched in Europe, costs a premium

To no surprise, HTC has launched a dual SIM version of its One M8 smartphone and while we were expecting it to go official first for China, the device has instead been announced for Europe. Also, it won’t be available for all countries for now, just a few select ones such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Ubergizmo is reporting that a press release has been issued in Germany regarding the launch, which can be found here. The HTC One M8 Dual SIM model has been rumored for a long time and it was leaked on multiple occasions as well. The smartphone will be identical to the current flagship and also have the same features.

Key specs of the HTC one M8 Dual SIM:

– 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 SOC
– Android 4.4 KitKat
– 5-inch 1080p FHD display
– 2GB RAM
– 16GB, 32GB storage options, 128GB expandable memory
– 2600mAh battery
– 5MP front snapper, Duo Camera (UltraPixel and depth sensor) rear snapper

The only difference would be the addition of a second SIM card slot. The company might stick with the same removable rear panel design which it used on the One M7 dual SIM. But there are still chances of it relocating the secondary slot to somewhere else. What isn’t confirmed as yet is whether the new variant supports LTE networks.

Coming to the price, the single SIM version costs around €570 in Europe and you’ll have to shell out €799 for the HTC One M8 Dual SIM, that’s around €229 for the extra slot. For that amount you could get a second smartphone.
