All this talk about HTC prepping a high-end phone to go up against the Galaxy S5 Prime and LG G3 has gotten everyone excited, but the sad news is that the M8 Prime or Plus as of yesterday, has reportedly been dropped off the drawing board. Why? Well, there’s no apparent reason behind this development as of now.
Leak artist, @evleaks who has been providing accurate and reliable information for years now, has shared this information. According to the post, the development has been ‘suspended indefinitely.’ Almost everything about the smartphone was known and even a full 360-degree press render (see below) was leaked online, showcasing a premium design with a large display on the front.
Just yesterday, a report surfaced stating that the company plans to launch the said phone under the Plus name and most of the details provided matched previously leaked ones. The handset was said to be dressed in an exotic material which is a composite of aluminum with liquid silicone and feature a 5.5-inch WQHD display. Other features like Boom Sound speakers and the Duo Camera setup were also included.
Here are the rumored specs of the HTC M8 Prime:
– Android 4.4 KitKat w/ Sense 6.5
– 5.5-inch WQHD display
– 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 SOC
– 3GB RAM
– Cat. 6 LTE connectivity
– Water-resistant design
We’ll be sure to keep you updated with any changes to the development status of the HTC M8 Prime. On the upside, the M8 Ace which is now known as the One E8, has been confirmed for launch in China. You can read more about it here.
