HTC Desire 616 is company’s first octa core Android phone, specs and photos

HTC is getting its very own octa core phone in the form of the Desire 616 soon. Photos of the device have leaked along with its spec details. But mind you, eight cores do not a premium smartphone make. The Desire 616 is rumored to embed a MediaTek processor and mid-range specs.

The HTC Desire 616’s integrated octa core chipset is reported to be clocked at 1.7GHz. It is said to run on Android Jelly Bean of course, and come with 1GB of RAM. There is no information on the memory space for now.

The smartphone is cited to have a 5-inch 720p screen and flaunt a plastic body. Its dimensions are supposed to read 142mm x 71.9mm x 9.1mm and weight, 150gm. We’re being told to expect an 8MP camera with an LED flash on the back panel of the handset. A Desire 516 and its 316 sibling are in line for a launch too.

While HTC may prefer to play in the high-end arena, it does need to please the mid-range market to stay afloat. The Desire 310 which was made available in India just today for Rs 11,350 also uses a MediaTek chipset, helping the company keep the final cost relatively low.

Phone Arena who provided the specifications mentioned above, says that the price and release date details of the HTC Desire 616 aren’t available at present.
