HTC Butterfly hits pre-order status through Expansys in the UK

Hardly a couple of days after the HTC Butterfly surfaced on the web, Expansys in the UK has already put the phone up for pre-order. The flagship smartphone from the Taiwanese manufacturer is nothing but the global variant of the Japanese J Butterfly and its Verizon Wireless counterpart, Droid DNA.

According to Pocketnow, who got hint of this piece of information via Android Chaotic, the device is also listed on other European versions of the website. While it can be pre-ordered, the seller has mentioned neither its price nor availability details. Moreover, the OEM itself has not confirmed its launch for the UK as yet.

The first global smartphone from HTC to sport a 5-inch display boasts of a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating for doing away with scrapes and scratches. Its Super LCD 3 full HD multi-touch screen is said to be capable of rendering high definition images in 1920 x 1080p resolution. The front side has a 2.1MP webcam as well, so prospective users can make face-to-face video calls over the web and record 1080p videos.

Its flip side is graced by an 8MP primary camera, possessing attributes like a dedicated ImageChip, a BSI sensor, auto focus, LED flash and the ability to shoot HD videos. The Butterfly ships with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard memory and is embedded with an expansion slot to support a microSD card of up to 32GB capacity. All of these features are crammed into a stylish chassis that measures 143 x 70.5 x 9.08 millimeters and tips the scales at around 140 grams.

Furthermore, it treats users to the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 platform and may receive a v4.2 OTA update very soon. It offers an intuitive user interface with the assistance of the latest version of HTC Sense. The phone is powered by the 1.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and integrates a 2020mAh lithium-polymer battery for a relatively long usage time.

The HTC Butterfly is up for pre-order through Expansys UK and its price has not been given a mention.
