Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be officially released by Google next week, but it won’t be hitting HTC devices until later this year. That’s of course because it will be integrating the software with its proprietary Sense UI. The Taiwanese company has gone on to announce the exact devices that will be receiving this update in the future.
Moreover, it has also revealed that it will be holding a global event on October 20. The tagline for the invite to this gathering is ‘Meet the Marshmallow from HTC.’ This could mean that the company will be unveiling its latest version of the Sense UI, but there are bound to be new devices in store for us as well.
As for the handsets that will be receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow via OTA updates, the list is of course topped by the One M9 and the One M8. While these devices will be getting the software this year itself, the One M9+, the One E9+, the One E9, the One ME, the One E8, the One M8 Eye, the Butterfly 3, the Desire 826, the Desire 820 and the Desire 816 will get it next year.
We’ve been seeing a lot of leaks about a certain HTC One A9 smartphone lately. There are high possibilities of this being the handset that will be unveiled by the company at its October 20 event. It’s highlighted by its iPhone-like unibody design, a Snapdragon 617 chipset and a 5-inch 108op full HD AMOLED display.
Among its competitors, HTC is really not faring well at the moment. Perhaps something as refreshing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow-bearing One A9 could be exactly what’s needed to turn its fortunes around. Let’s wait and find out if that’s true.
