HP Slate 6 VoiceTab, Slate 7 VoiceTab Android phablets hitting India soon

With the HP Slate 6 VoiceTab and Slate 7 VoiceTab, the company has decided to step out of its comfort zone after a very long break indeed. HP has chosen to call these two voice calling ‘tablets.’ But the 6-inch specification of the former puts it firmly in the phablet category going by the current trend.

Android smartphones or tablets, call them what you may, these new HP devices are heading towards India. If everything goes according to schedule, then you will be able to see them in the market by February next month. The company has chosen to keep the prices under wraps for now, though a little has been revealed by way of specifications thankfully.

Except for the display sizes, it’s possible that the VoiceTabs won’t have much setting them apart. Both will have dual SIM slots and 3G connectivity on the specs sheet. The smaller of the two will be a 6-inch device, while the other will be a 7-inch one. A quad core processor, 16GB ROM, 32GB memory expandability and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean are also on the menu.

“How we create, consume and share information is rapidly evolving, driving the demand for new devices and form factors that adapt to the different ways people work and play,” noted HP India’s Rajiv Srivastava on the occasion of the launch.
