Just a day after a Facebook post by Nokia Mobile hinted that there may be more Android phones incoming on February 26, HMD Global has gone ahead and confirmed the date. It’s started issuing out invites for an event on that date set to take place in Barcelona.
The occasion takes place just a day before the MWC 2017 is set to begin in Barcelona. The invite itself doesn’t give too many details away, simply stating that HMD is going to talk about the next exciting chapter in the Nokia consumer story.
Speculation so far has suggested that HMD is planning to out 6 to 7 Nokia Android devices over the course of the year. So far, it’s launched the China-only Nokia 6. An international variant of the smartphone may be in the works and could see the light of day at the pre-MWC event.

More recently, two iterations of a handset called the Nokia 8 were leaked courtesy a couple of videos shot at CES 2017. Qualcomm apparently had a booth showing off the video stabilization abilities of its Snapdragon 835 processor which was housed in the higher-specced Nokia 8. The lower-specced one supposedly sports a Snapdragon 821 SoC.
Other possible phones which could make an appearance on February 26 include the Nokia D1C and E1. Both have been the subject of numerous leaks and are expected to be a mid-range and entry-level option, respectively. The former may be sold in two versions, with one priced at $150 (about Rs 10230) and the other at $200 (Rs 13650).
