Back in April, we announced that OCZ Technology unveiled the Z-Drive R2 SSD series. The company now adds a new offering to its fine array by introducing the Enyo Portable SSD which utilizes the next generation USB 3.0 interface. The latest offering brings forth the durability and performance advantages normally expected in an internal SSD.
The OCZ Enyo is highly portable in nature as it enables on-the-go users to easily share pictures, music and other content with other PC systems. Customers can also expect state-of-the-art features which take advantage of the SuperSpeed 5GBps port. It provides users with lower CPU utilization and advanced power management, according to the company. The OCZ Technology SSD offers users up to 260MB/s read and 200MB/s write capabilities. It is also noted to be backwards-compatible with legacy ports.
Ryan Petersen, CEO of the OCZ Technology Group commented, “We are continually searching for new ways to make the benefits of solid state storage available to consumers, and our new Enyo SSD is designed to make those benefits portable. The Enyo is a sleek external SSD that makes use of the increasingly popular SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface to make transferring anything from spreadsheets to high definition movies significantly faster than traditional media. Consumers never have to leave home without their valuable files again.”
As the company suggests, this offering makes storage ten times faster when pitted against USB 2.0 speeds. The Enyo measures 56mm x 120mm x 10mm and weighs just 87.7g. It also sports a slim and chic anodized aluminum appearance and is available in three capacities namely 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. With the new product, fast transferring of HD video, music and graphics can be expected. It offers plug-and-play capabilities minus any additional external power requirements.
The OCZ Enyo USB 3.0 Portable SSD is backed with a three year warranty although the exact pricing details are still a bit hazy.
