With enhancing technology, small form factor desktops are now getting quite popular. Dell recently updated its commercial OptiPlex portfolio with two new small form factor PCs. The company got the wraps off the new OptiPlex 780 and 380 USFF PCs. These are fabricated to offer business and organizations a robust and energy efficient platform for flexible and secure desktop computing.
The new OptiPlex 780 USFF is claimed to be world’s smallest fully functional desktop PC that is incorporated with power supply and Intel vPo technology. As for the OptiPlex 380, it delivers more flexibility along with a number of form factor options. The PCs also come with long life cycle options and support for the company’s Flex Computing Solutions that offer virtual remote desktop and on-demand desktop streaming environments.
Individually the OptiPlex 780 USFF should suit the needs of space constrained settings. It sports durable mount anywhere options along with a simplified all-in-one stand. The integrated Intel Core2 Duo technology enables scalability of processing power along with graphics and hard drives. With Ubuntu Linux support in certain countries, the PC is compatible to Microsoft Windows 7, Vista and XP.
Delivering image stability, the long-life cycle support should allow users to keep maintenance charges to a minimum. In addition to this, the USFF mainstream desktop PC also bundles in a number of security and data protection options. These include full disk encryption and integrated Trusted Platform module (TPM), enabling organizations to safeguard data, assets and comply to regulations. The PC is further eco-friendly and includes 90 percent efficient power supplies, Energy Star 5.0 and EPEAT Gold ratification.
“The death of the commercial desktop has been greatly overstated,” mentioned Mike Basore, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Dell Business Client Product Group. “We are seeing customers look to deploy small form factor systems in ways never before imagined. These new desktop systems provide a rock solid foundation which Dell is known for while providing long-lifecycle and secure capabilities in key areas such as client virtualization and systems management.”
