Ergo Electronics, the makers of the 10-inch GoNote hybrid netbook for students, have announced a trio of Android slates for the UK, namely the GoTab GTi97, GTi8 and GTi7. The former tablet arrives with the Jelly Bean platform on board, while the latter two feast on Ice Cream Sandwich.
Starting off with the largest member in this lineup, the GTi97 has a 9.7-inch 4:3 IPS display much like Apple’s iPad. It houses a dual core RK3066 processor clocked at 1.6GHz and 1GB of RAM for smooth working. For connectivity, it comes with Wi-Fi, HDMI output, a microSD card slot and a micro-USB port. The GTi7 takes on the 7-inch segment with a compact and portable form factor that’s said to conveniently fit in a jacket pocket or handbag.
Sam Goult, Design Director at Ergo, comments, “This is the next evolution of our GoTab range designed to have something for everyone. From the dual core GoTab GTi97 which is a big-screen powerhouse ideal for gaming and Android Apps, to the GTi7 which is lightweight and compact so you can take it everywhere you go. The range’s centrepiece is the stunning GTi8 which has an amazingly sharp high-resolution screen (1024 x 768), so users get a big screen experience from something that that’s really portable.
Coming to the GTi8, it packs in an 8-inch 160ppi LED-backlit touchscreen with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. Tucked away under the hood is a 1.2GHz ARM processor with dedicated graphics, backed by 1GB of RAM. Also fitted within its sleek 9.5mm form factor is a microSD card bay, Wi-Fi 802.11 n support, a 2MP webcam and an HDMI port.
The GoTab GTi97 price in the UK amounts to £179, while the GTi8 and GTi7 tablets are tagged at £129 and £79, respectively. The release date for these slates is expected to fall sometime during the holiday season.
