For shopaholics in India, Black Friday and Cyber Monday simply don’t exist. That mad rush to buy discounted products is usually seen before Diwali. So for the second year running, Google has announced the Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) which will start on December 11 and go on for the next two days after that.
Google says that more than 200 partners will be tempting buyers with the best deals possible on various products. Travel websites, auto companies, fashion labels, health brands, network operators, banks and more will be getting into the spirit during the 72-hour hoopla.
Some of the brands you may recognize include Adlabs Imagica, BigFlix, Cathay Pacific Airways, Croma, Cotton World, Cosmopolitan India, Dominos Pizza, EaseMyTrip, Fastrack, HDFC, Hidesign and Hyatt Hotels. Offers from ICICI Lombard, Groupon, Puma, Star Sports and Titan are on the table too.
Let’s not leave out Airtel, Amazon, eBay, Flipkart, Game4u, Intel, Infibeam, Lenovo, Nokia, Nissan, The Mobile Store and Volkswagen. Google reported a 128% increase in online shopping trends from 2011 to 2012. The company was expecting year-on-year growth in triple digits for 2013 too.
In the study conducted with help from TNS, 9 of out 10 online shoppers who responded to the survey said that they intended to spend more money buying products over the internet this year. And it was not just metros that were supposed to drive this growth. It’ll be interesting to see what sellers can bring to GOSF 2013 since some of them already have great deals on products at any time of the year.
Like we’ve mentioned above, the last GOSF day will be December 13.
