News coming in is that the rollout of Android 4.4.4 KitKat has reached the HTC One M8 and M7 Google Play Edition handsets. For those wondering, this update adds nothing other than a few bug fixes, and it had come out only a few days following the new phone dialer-adding 4.4.3 upgrade.
The software is of course being delivered in an OTA fashion and should reach both GPE devices from HTC soon. Last month, without any prior announcement, Google started seeding this version of Android to Nexus devices and it was only after some digging that it was revealed to feature nothing but bug fixes.
The Moto G GPE too is currently receiving Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. With the HTC One M8 and M7 Google Play Editions now having gotten it, it looks like the turn of other GPE handsets will come soon as well.
Mountain View recently unveiled the upcoming version of its new mobile OS which is tentatively being referred to as Android L. Apart from gaining a complete design overhaul, this version will also receive several new interface changes to assist users in their daily tasks.
No particular release date is available for it, but it should arrive on compatible devices sometime this fall. A Developer Preview for this version is live now, however, as one would expect, it is extremely unstable and filled with bugs.
Like we said, Google Play Editions of both the HTC One M8 and M7 are now receiving their respective Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates and they can be downloaded OTA.
