Avid readers ought to be content knowing that Google Play Books is now official for India, although the launch of various other services from the Mountain View company are still being patiently awaited in the country. The latest release will enable Android and iOS users to access a wide catalog of titles from the search giant including ones that are written in native script.
A post on the official Google India blog states that books written from renowned authors in the country including Amish Tripathi, Devdutt Pattanaik and APJ Abdul Kalam will be on sale. And the catalog comprises of thousands of choices that range from new launches to classics. To top it off, users will even be able to pick up their favorite international bestsellers from the ebookstore.
Strategic Partner Development Manager Ajay Malhotra, notes that the company is collaborating with various international publishers to make their content available. The service is highly flexible and it lets users read from almost anywhere. There’s a dedicated Google Play Books application for Android tablets and smartphones as well as iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad. Additionally, titles purchased from the store can be viewed on a computer through a web browser.
In other news, the giant has launched the Google Business Photos program in the country. This project is basically Maps related and it allows viewers to take a peek inside businesses which is done through either a computer or a mobile device. Business owners will have to hire Trusted Agency Photographers to capture images and videos of the interiors along with available facilities, merchandise, rating details, credit cards accepted and posted menus. The recorded footage will be visible on Search, Maps, and Google+ Local Pages. Prior to the program’s launch in India, the Mountain View giant had already worked with various companies that operate in diverse fields such as restaurants, bars, retail stores, showrooms and boutiques.
The Google Play Books application for Android and iOS can be downloaded through the respective store for free. Those interested in the Business Photos program can head over to the google.co.in/businessphotos website and select the Get Started option. Additionally, their business photos and videos can be uploaded to the company’s Local Pages service.
