The Pixel 3 XL has shown up once again in the rumor mills. The same Ukrainian tech blogger who leaked it so extensively last week has decided to post a long video of the pre-production unit in his possession on Telegram. It was later uploaded to YouTube by Slashleaks.

He played around with the Pixel 3 XL for quite a bit, exploring its Android 9 Pie interface and design. A screenshot of the AnTuTu app reveals that the phone is going to measure a huge 6.7-inch with a resolution of 1440 x 2960p. In comparison, the Pixel 2 XL had a 6-inch 1440 x 2880p screen.

Google Pixel 3 XL Battery Downgrade

Google is clearly supersizing the phone, perhaps as a way to better deal with rivals like Apple who is also said to be planning a big 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the brand is increasing the size of the battery to go along with the larger display.

In fact, Google might be doing the opposite. The video indicates that the smartphone will carry a 3430mAh battery, smaller than its predecessor’s 3520mAh unit. It’s possible the company has introduced some battery efficiency features into the device, such as the ones built into Android 9.

Still, it makes sense for a bigger screen to be accompanied by a bigger battery. Other notable specs uncovered from the video include a single 12MP camera at the back and an 8MP front-facing lens. This is the same as before, but Google usually excels in the imaging department so there will probably be some kind of improvement.

Phone Arena also points out that the Always-On Display feature comes with wallpaper support on the Pixel 3 XL. It’s possible this is exclusive to the phone and its smaller counterpart. We’ll know for sure on October 4 when the two will likely make their debut.
