Google Maps for Android update out now, shows upcoming events

The Google Maps for Android application has been updated and the Mountain View-based company has added the support for upcoming events to it. This update has already been rolled out for the said mobile platform and apart from a couple of new features, brings bug fixes too.

New features:

The main feature of the upgraded application is the list of upcoming events. You will find a complete roster of performances and gigs within the Google Maps app which are slated to be held in any of the participating venues along with the location and address of that venue. Also, for dropping a pin somewhere on the map, you just have to tap and hold. Then you can save the location and even share it with your friends.

The developers of the utility claim that it highly simplifies navigation and helps you look for spots and venues in your town. Additionally, details regarding that venue can be found within the application as well. It brings maps of over 200 countries and boasts of voice-guided navigation for driving, biking and walking.

And what’s more, you can expect live traffic and incident reports and even expect re-routing in such cases. There’s Street View and indoor pictures of eateries, hotels, museums and more, besides details of over 100 million places around the globe. Public transport information and maps are also available in more than 2,800 cities.
