Good luck getting your hands on the OnePlus One, sales are invite-only

OnePlus is a relatively new startup, but it has already created a lot of media buzz ahead of launching its first smartphone, the One. The company has scheduled the unveiling for April 23 and if you were hoping to grab a unit early, you’re in for a bit of disappointment.

OnePlus has disclosed on its forums that it will implement an invite system. This basically means that you’ll need to secure an invite in order to get your hands on the device. The company states that this system will be more effective compared to pre-orders and batch availability as it ensures that you are able to buy the OnePlus One without having to wait for long periods of time.

The smartphone will be available in limited quantities at launch and this is probably what EvLeaks was referring to when he tweeted that the OnePlus One isn’t quite ready to debut. So here comes the main question – How do you get an invite? The company will be giving them out to lucky forum members and though contests. You’ll also be able to score one through a friend that has already purchased the device.

Key OnePlus One Specs:

– Android KitKat
– 5.5-inch 1080p screen
– 3GB RAM, 16GB/64GB storage options
– 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 SOC
– 13MP rear camera
– 3100mAh battery

You might want to stay tuned to the company’s forums for more details on how to score an invite for the OnePlus One smartphone. The device will go official next week and it will sell for under $400 in the US or below £290 in the UK.
