If phones went by J Crew sizes, then the Gionee GN9005 would be the ultra-skinny, triple 0 device that gave all other phones a complex. That’s right, Gionee’s upcoming device is rumored to be thinner than the 5.5mm slim Elife S5.5 (pictured below), leaving us to wonder how much it can take before snapping.
The smartphone goes by the codename GN9005 and is said to have a 0.2-inch or 5-millimeter slick profile, thin enough to slice up stuff. But the emaciated-looking exterior apparently can’t hold in the best of components you’d expect from it. So here’s why super skinny isn’t something you should aspire to be, boys and girls.
The GN9005 phone hangs on to a 4.8-inch AMOLED display of only 720p resolution and is powered by a quad core processor clocking a speed of 1.2GHz. Considering that the Elife S5.5 works on Android, it should run on the same OS too. The other features worth mentioning include a 2050mAh battery, 16GB of internal memory, an 8MP camera on the rear panel and a 5MP one above the screen.
Rumored specifications of the Gionee GN9005:
– 4.8-inch 720p AMOLED touchscreen
– 1.2GHz quad core processor
– 1GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory
– 8MP main camera and 5MP front lens
– 2050mAh battery
– 5mm thin
As Engadget points out, the Gionee GN9005 may have to be satisfied with mediocre components, but it can at least enjoy its current title of the thinnest smartphone in the world. We hope you weren’t expecting any word on price or release date details because we have nothing to show for now.
