The Gionee Elife S5.5, the slimmest smartphone in the world, has finally made its grand entry into India at a launch event held in the country today. And those interested in laying their hands over the octa core smartphone will have to part with an amount that stands at Rs 22,999. It will hit store shelves on April 27.
The Gionee Elife S5.5 is said to be the slimmest smartphone because it measures merely 5.5mm in thickness. It manages to support a 5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen on its sleek chassis that delivers visuals in full HD 1080p resolution. A 13MP rear camera with LED flash as well as a 5MP webcam have been tossed into the mix as well.
It is powered by the Amigo OS which is a heavily customized version of the Android platform and gains steam from an octa core processor sprinting at a maximum speed of 1.7GHz. There’s 2GB of RAM to help the SoC for smooth navigation and a 2300mAh battery is responsible for keeping it charged up for a long time.
As of now, only the 3G variant of the smartphone has been introduced in India and although the company plans to bring the 4G LTE one sometime in the next quarter, we are not sure if it will come to the subcontinent or not. And it goes without saying that the common features such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, USB connectivity and more have also been tossed into the mix.
Like we said, the Gionee Elife S5.5 has been launched in India for Rs 22,999, but it will not be released until April 27.
