GFXBench strikes again: Samsung SM-G850 with octa core chip, HD display leaked

We’ve seen a number of upcoming Samsung phones get leaked over the past two months and the SM-G850 has just joined the group. The handset is basically a variant of a device which showed up last week carrying a similar model number, SM-G8508S.

The Samsung SM-G850 has also made its appearance via GFXBench and while its 8S version packs a Snapdragon 800 chipset, this one comes with an octa core Exynos processor. The strategy used here is basically the same that the company uses for its flagship releases where the Qualcomm powered devices reach LTE markets and the ones with the homebrewed chip get shipped to global markets.

Samsung Galaxy S5

This highly suggests that the phone could be part of the Galaxy S5 series and SamMobile notes that it might just be the Neo version of the current flagship. The alleged handset, however, was spotted with a different model number, SM-G750.

The Exynos 5 Octa chipset in the G850 could be the same as the one found on the international Note 3. It features quad Cortex A15s and quad Cortex A7s based on ARM’s big.Little design. Apart from this, graphics processing will be in the hands of ARM’s Mali-T628 MP6 hexa core. So performance-wise, the phone will be at par with the latest flagships.

Here are the leaked Samsung SM-G850 specs:

– Android 4.4.4 KitKat
– 4.7-inch 720p HD display
– Exynos 5 Octa SOC
– ARM Mali T628 MP6
– 2GB RAM, 32GB storage
– 2MP front camera, 13MP rear snapper

Apart from the SM-G850, Samsung is also working on a few 64-bit phones, two entry-level devices, the next Galaxy Mega and the Galaxy Note 4.
