Garmin has announced to introduce Road Tech zūmo, a customized version of motorcycle-specific GPS device. The latest GPS unit is especially customized for Harley-Davidson bikes and they are now available at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and around the world in Harley-Davidson authorized dealerships.
The new series of navigation unit is preloaded with database of more than six million points of interests, which include hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and other attractions. The Road Tech zūmo can easily be mounted on the handlebar of the bike. Moreover, it allows users to swap routes and waypoints with other zūmo owners via the unit’s SD card slot.
The most important plus point of the latest GPS unit is its glove-friendly design with left-handed controls and oversized touchscreen buttons. In addition the device is waterproof hence it can accompany bike riders anywhere.
Moreover the new device is also equipped with Bluetooth, which enables riders to converse by connecting the zumo to the riders’ Bluetooth-enabled headset/helmet. Users can also make calls to POIs through zūmo’s Bluetooth interface.
“The Road Tech zūmo helps Harley riders plan and navigate their route with ease,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “Packed with all of the preloaded features that zūmo users have come to expect and appreciate, the Road Tech zūmo anticipates the needs of Harley riders everywhere.”
Not only the navigation information but the display of the Road Tech zūmo shows other vital information like speed, heading and a fuel gauge.
Garmin and Harley-Davidson’s GPS navigation system also takes care of the security of the system. The custom mount can withstand the severe vibrations commonly experienced in motorcycle riding. Also it includes a unique theft prevention system named Garmin Lock.
The Garmin Road Tech zūmo is available at the approximate price of $800.
