The first ever tablet to be deployed with the Android Jelly Bean platform, the Google Nexus 7 is now shipping in the US. The search engine giant has also announced its availability status for Canada, Australia and the UK.
Customers who pre-ordered the slate will receive a tracking number from Google Play as soon as their devices are dispatched. The company has shipped the Nexus 7 to those who reserved their units on or before July 13, while orders placed after that will be processed according to the time-frame that was quoted during the time of accepting pre-orders.
In the US, Google has already shipped standalone 8GB tablets and plans to dispatch the standalone 16GB Nexus 7 to users who ordered it before July 11, by July 19. The other standalone 16GB devices will knock on the doors of the remaining customers by the end of next week. And tabs which were ordered along with a case, a charger or the Nexus Q will arrive this week itself. It may be shipped without the accompanying peripherals, but the accessories will follow soon.
Fans in Canada should receive the 8GB slates as they have already been shipped. The 16GB counterpart is on its way and will reach the country in the next 1 or 2 weeks. The 8GB Nexus 7 is slated to arrive in the UK by July 20 and the 16GB devices that were ordered before June 30 should also land on or before July 20. All other slates will follow next week. Customers in Australia should expect the device to toddle into the country 3 to 5 days after July 19.
The Google Nexus 7 price and availability details for other countries are yet to be disclosed.
