Serving up the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) with Ice Cream Sandwich right out of the box, the South Korean OEM has finally introduced their first Android 4.0 slate. The device in question shows off a 7-inch, WSVGA 1,024 x 600p, PLS TFT screen and gets its steam from a 1GHz dual core processor embedded within the chassis.

While the tech specs may not have everyone singing in surprised delight, the essentials are in place anyway. Working with 1GB RAM, the tablet integrates 8GB, 16GB or 32GB onboard memory and there’s room for expansion of up to 32GB owing to a microSD card slot. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 has a very basic 3MP fixed focus sensor on the back panel and a VGA type camera sits on the front bezel for video calling, personal grooming needs and whatever other use people normally put front facing snappers to.

“Two years ago, Samsung Galaxy Tab began to offer customers more possibilities on the go. Since then, Samsung has actively enhanced our tablet line-up with several tablets in different sizes,” averred JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. “The new Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) will provide people with delighted multimedia experience and allow efficient communication.”

If anyone’s going to notice the difference in a few negligible ounces and millimeters when it comes to the weight and dimensions, then the new Galaxy Tab is indeed more compact than its predecessor. In terms of connectivity, it supports HSPA+ 21Mbps 850/900/1900/2100, Bluetooth v3.0 and USB 2.0. Lastly, the battery powering the slab is a 4,000mAh Li-ion one and users can look forward to Android Market access as well as a suite of Samsung apps or services.
